Amentum Senior Site Director in Santa Clara, California

Amentum is seeking a Senior Site Director

This position is responsible for the overall operation of the project/contract including ensuring the safety and well being of its employees, safeguarding company funds and property, and representing the company with respect to the client.

The Senior Site Director oversees a workforce of Operations and project managers and supervisors who in turn direct a workforce of technicians and professionals engaged in a variety of activities in the management of various types of facilities. This position ensures that established company goals are realized while maintaining client relations that will enhance future business. This position will be responsible for mentoring and directing disciplined operations, schedule urgency and overall human performance.

This position interacts with Amentum operations support offices, vendors, subcontractors and customer representatives as required, and will develop close working relationships with various business leaders/stakeholders throughout the organization.

Responsibilities include managing several operations managers, budget management, customer relationships and key performance indicators.

HIRING SALARY RANGE : $60.56 - $97.19 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Responsibilities:

  • Working under the supervision of the Asst Director of Operations, demonstrates project leadership in their area of responsibility.

  • Identify potential project problems or opportunities, analyze the issues using all appropriate resources, develop alternatives, and arrive at the most optimum approach to mitigate problems or exploit opportunities.

  • Ensure development and adherence to the project work breakdown structure, asset management, and work-flow management elements.

  • Mentoring and directing disciplined operations, schedule urgency and overall human performance of the site team. May be tasked with mentoring of client personnel as well as construction / operational interfaces.

  • Expand the project execution plan for subsequent phases (project initiation, project execution, construction, etc.) and communicates and coordinates the implementation of the enhancements with the project team.

  • Establish, track, and report status against key performance indicators or contractual metrics on a routine basis.

  • Demonstrate command of the schedule goals, key milestones and approach to the work embodied in the schedule.

  • Ensure that a firm scope-based schedule baseline is established and properly resourced.

  • Manage performance and progress against the plan and ensures accurate forecasts with commensurate action plans.

  • Review, report and manage key performance measures defined within the contract. Implements corrective measures when measures are outside service levels or bandwidths.

  • Consistently meet or improve upon the established schedule goals in their area of responsibility.

  • Establish annual operating budgets in cooperation with customer, business manager, or group financial department.

  • Provide accurate monthly forecasts of cost, schedule, and resource utilization.

  • May serve as the proposal manager for a project.

  • Support or conduct formal presentations to clients and/or management.

  • Utilizes strong organizational and problem-solving skills and creative thinking to introduce and manage change in order to achieve continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrates leadership by example and shows integrity and candor in all actions.

  • Works proactively to identify potential project problems or opportunities, analyzes these issues using appropriate resources, and develops and implements optimum alternatives.

  • Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.

  • Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.

  • Clearly understands Amentum scope of work and contract requirements for the area of responsibility.

  • Supports or conducts formal presentations to clients and/or management.

  • Supports Amentum management as the designated Amentum agent for all discussions and negotiations with customers.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • High School graduate or demonstrated equivalent.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent trade school credentials preferred.

  • Experience: 10 years of experience in area of specialization.

Physical Requirements:

  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.

  • Requires ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.

  • Requires ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.

  • Requires ability to attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other Amentum, customer and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.

  • Requires the ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings, and presentations.

  • Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.

  • Requires some moving of light to medium weight materials into desks, filing cabinets and other storage locations.

  • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

Special Requirements:

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Other Attributes:

  • Must be willing to work overtime when required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Facilities, Construction Management, Engineering or a technical degree related to Industrial Maintenance or demonstrated equivalent combination and experience as a supervisor, technician in HVAC, Industrial Electrical or Mechanical systems, production system Electronics or a related skilled trade.

  • In addition to education, 15 years of professional experience managing a multi-skilled technical workforce, supervisors and/or subcontractors in a technical capacity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP Certification

  • Experience managing engineering, subcontracting or maintenance managers.

  • Experience managing maintenance planning/scheduling functions.

  • Extensive experience in establishing and enforcing contractual obligations with clients.

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing P&L reporting with experience in managing multi-million dollar budgets.

  • Experience managing preventive and predictive maintenance programs for facility or production equipment.

  • Extensive experience using continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, 4M’s, Kaizen, etc.

  • Experience in creating presentations and speaking to specific audiences.

  • Experience utilizing performance metrics to identify gaps and create goals to maximize maintenance performance (ie, calculate OEE, meant time to repair, Pareto, 4-up, etc.)

  • Extensive experience establishing, utilizing and enforcing an EH&S Safety Program.

  • Current Amentum Employee preferred.
