Guthrie Charge Entry & Edit Specialist-Corporate Patient AR-Full Time in Sayre, Pennsylvania

Position Summary: Responsible for accurately entering charge tickets after screening for appropriate use of CPT, ICD‐10, and modifier codes. Communicate with departments/sites when expected charge tickets have not been received for entry. Works closely with Central Charge Manager and Centralized Charge Entry Lead to identify missing charges not received in a timely manner. Education, License & Cert: Degree in Medical Office Assistant preferred, but High School Diploma required with concentration in business courses. Experience: One to two years experience with data entry. Accurate keyboarding skills are necessary. Must have experience working with computers. Medical office experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Basic coding knowledge of CPT, ICD‐10, and modifier application is necessary. Demonstrate strong verbal and communication skills, detail oriented and basic math comprehension. Proficient computer skills: Epic, Word, and Excel. Essential Functions: 1. Perform charge entry function on a daily basis. 2. Review charge ticket for completeness and accuracy in the use of CPT, ICD‐10, and Modifiers. 3. Identify and communicate to appropriate parties any missing or inaccurate patient or charge entry requirements necessary to complete charge entry. 4. Calculates procedure hash totals in order to ensure accurate posting of cpt codes. 5. Responsible to fix any charge entry error(s) or warning(s) when applicable at the time of manual charge entry. 6. Maintain strict confidentiality related to patient health information in accordance with HIPAA compliance. 7. Contribute to maintaining a team environment. Must work in a way that demonstrates and promotes teamwork. Other Duties: 1. Perform other duties as assigned.
