Prime Air is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer responsible for supporting the design and development of assigned avionics products delivering high quality mechanical designs following internal development processes including optimum electronic packaging, PCBA layout support, mechanical enclosure design for SWAP, supporting build and test of hardware (prototypes, engineering validation hardware, and development verification hardware), generation of bring up test procedures, support of DO-160 environmental test procedures & reports.

Export Control License: This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.

A day in the life

Key job responsibilities

· Generate detailed designs with 3D CAD assemblies/components and 2D drawings as deliverables.

· Conduct static, dynamic, modal structural and thermal analysis as needed to support design work.

· Deliver efficient designs capable of high volume production throughput (DFM, DFA).

· Documentation and presentation of materials for technical design reviews.

· Design and support test campaigns, both development and qualification/acceptance, for avionics hardware

· Design and development of the next generation avionics hardware

About the team

This role will integrate closely with internal partners on the electrical, software teams and flight control teams to develop the best system solutions. This position will require collaboration with various teams across the Prime Air organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems experience

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent

    • Experience with prototyping and implementation
    • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 2+ years of relevant work experience
    • Strong Mathematical/Statistical/Physics fundamentals
    • Experience in communicating with end users, business teams and management to collect requirements, describe product features and refine technical designs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience with hardware/software integration and real-time systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $77,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
