Corporate Communication Manager

Role Purpose:

  1. Aim to position Boehringer Ingelheim as a company with values and a distinctive profile against our major target groups, media, general public, patients, job seekers and our employees.

  2. Strengthen the company reputation in accordance with the company’s key statement/topics/projects externally and internally.

  3. Support senior leaders to increase employee engagement & commitment and fosters company’s culture.

Key Job Accountabilities:

Ensure Boehringer Ingelheim is regarded as trustworthy, reliable, and value oriented in accordance with Boehringer Ingelheim’s intended messages and timely key topics/projects through communication channels.

  • Establish best media mix to provide reliable information in a timely and efficient manner needed by external stakeholders & employees.

  • Develop and maintain relationship with media/journalists

  • Develop message and stories appealing to defined stakeholders to create desirable perception about BI

  • Manage issues related to safety and security matters to protect company reputation by planning and implementing appropriate communication plans.

Increase and maintain the high-level of employee engagement & commitment and promote the realization of Purpose.

  • Penetrate Our Purpose, the distinction and spirits of Boehringer Ingelheim for employees to make strong commitment to the company.

In coordinating with the global agenda, execute initiatives effectively through effective localization such as corporate branding, internal projects and social activities

  • Utilize and explore appropriate tools and communication channels to maximize the communication opportunities.

  • Develop effective corporate branding tools

Key Contacts:

・Report to Head of Corporate Communication Group, Corporate Affairs

・Key interactions with:

  • Journalists

  • PR Agencies

  • Comm/CSR members of other companies

  • Corporate Affairs in global HQ / Comms of major countries

  • Senior management (BIJEC, Head of each legal entity)

  • Leaders of each Business Unit

  • Human Pharma BU (Commercial, Medical, KPRI (R&D function in Kobe), Yamagata (Manufacturing site))

  • Animal Health BU

  • Group Functions:

  • Human Resources (Talent Management, HR Business Partners, HR Services), Finance, Legal

  • All BI Japan Employees

Qualifications:

Work experience in the pharmaceutical / life science industry

5+ years of experience in the Communications field

Strong track record in Corporate Communication and/or Internal Communication

  • Leading development and implementation of Communication Strategy (Press releases, press interviews, press conferences, internal messages, digital tools etc.)

Strong Project Management Skill

  • Track record in successfully leading cross-functional projects, involving multiple stakeholders into successful outcomes

  • Critical thinker with ability to self-manage workload, including reprioritizing and delivery under tight timelines.

  • Multiple task management and Stakeholder management skills

Open minded, team player, flexible and willingness to adapt in a changing environment

Ability to work well under pressure, influence without authority, good interpersonal and negotiation skills

Effective communication skill both in Japanese and in English
