EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing support to the delivery of human resource services with specific responsibility for supporting department staff, providing information to applicants and employees, maintaining records, and completing assigned projects and tasks in an efficient and effective manner. This person will research, develop, plan, implement, and evaluate local and national recruiting efforts using innovative strategies and techniques. Will be expected to work under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods to provide information and/or advice to others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Answers departmental phones for the purpose of screening calls, transferring calls, responding to inquiries and/or taking messages.

Assists with employment processes for certified and salaried staff to meet district staffing requirements while complying with established guidelines.

Conducts new employee orientation to ensure employees are knowledgeable of current practices and district processes and policies.

Maintains a variety of employment files and records for the purpose of compiling pertinent employee information, ensuring accuracy of employee's records, maintaining eligibility for position and complying with mandated requirements.

Performs record keeping and clerical functions that support the Director and Assistant Director of Human Resources.

Processes documents and materials for the purpose of developing and disseminating information to appropriate parties.

Responds to written and verbal inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources by providing information and/or direction.

Implements system-wide recruitment program focused on attracting a high quality, diverse workforce.

Analyzes and monitors staffing requirements and goals to support the District strategic plan on an ongoing basis.

Works collaboratively with the District’s Communication Department to create a consistent Organizational Brand.

Develops and maintains professional relationships with college, university, and community college placement offices, teacher preparation program leadership, and various agencies that assist in providing applicants to the District.

Maintains data regarding candidates, recruitment expenses, and other related recruitment information and data.

Assists with the development of career pipelines.

Travels and stays overnight in another location for recruitment fairs, meetings, and college and university visits. Travel may include both in-state and out of state engagements.

Completes cross-training in all other human resources functions to ensure operational knowledge and to assist others within the department as necessary.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum education include a high school graduate and previous experience in office atmosphere. Associate degree and previous human resource experience preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Communicate effectively in various ways and forms to applicants, employees, supervisors, agencies, and universities. Provide complete and accurate information to candidates about the District, the onboarding process, and the requirements of our workforce. Individual must have effective listening skills.

ANALYTICAL and REASONING SKILLS

Individual must also be able to handle a large number of complex tasks and assignments at the same time through effective multi-tasking and time management skills. Ability to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data. Ability to work with a variety of data. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines. Attention to detail necessary.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS

Individual must be competent in technology. Must also have the capability to collect and sort data through technology. Strong knowledge and eagerness to learn new concepts and skills in Excel, Microsoft Word and database systems required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Normal office physical demands. May periodically have moderate physical demands and may be required to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Generally employee works inside.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

Will perform other duties as may be assigned by the superintendent or designee, necessary and appropriate to achievement of the program and/or District goals and objectives.
