LMI Aerospace Proposal Manager in St. Charles, Missouri

Position Summary

The Proposal Manager is responsible for proposal efforts for the manufacturing divisions of the company. This includes providing and coordinating estimates for ongoing and new/development programs, supporting management and the use and development of tools to improve estimating performance.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as Estimating/Pricing Model Administrator.

  • Serve as Project Leadon proposals/estimates

  • Serve as Lead on Pre-Gate/Gate Reviews

  • Provide oversight and coordination of multiple estimates and supporting detail for estimates

  • Understand the magnitude of request, key milestones, and due dates and work with team and management to determine feasibility and estimating approaches

  • Provide and lead daily/weekly status on estimates prior to submitting for approval and release to customer

  • Manage assigned estimating activities that occur at plant level

  • Work closely with Engineering, Strategic Souring, and Operations organizations to provide Request For Quotations (RFQ), evaluate responses from plants

  • Incorporate costing/pricing inputs into Customer formats proposal/quotes

  • Support management for the bid/no bid process from receipt of RFQ through contract issuance

  • Support, evaluate, develop and/or improvise methods and tools for quoting new work

  • Support development of computerized estimating models with the ability to transfer information and reporting between Sonaca North America departments

  • Support contracts and various manufacturing for contract changes, both technical and non-technical

  • Works with operations to assess price impacts of customer configuration changes.

  • Evaluate various ways to improve parametric, top down and bottom-up estimates for Firm Fixed Price (FFP), Request for Information (RFI) and Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates

  • Ability to work on multiple data systems which is conducive to supporting site objectives

Education and Experience Required

  • Associate, Technical degree, or equivalent experiences preferred

  • Proposals, Estimating, and Pricing experience is required. Sheet metal, composite and/or machining experience is a plus.

  • History of successful and progressively increasing responsibility in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts, along with experience in a multi-plant environment is a plus

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in aerospace industry specifically with aircraft components, structural elements and metallic/composite structures or the equivalent combination in education, training and experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a proposal development or contracts functions within aerospace industry, preferably some government contracting experience.

  • Experience required in Proposal Development, Project Management, Product Development, Manufacturing, Contracts, Customer Support, Subcontract Management, or Business Development.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Demonstrated experience with assessing technical engineering models/drawings and possess working knowledge of material types and general aerospace manufacturing

  • Focused on customer service and succeeds in a team-based environment

  • Solid organizational and time management skills

  • Superior oral and written communication skills - effectively present information and respond to questions from groups
