We are the Mac Systems Quality team, and we are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented engineer to test and optimize power and power efficiency on all new Mac technologies. As a member of our team, your contributions will drive best in class battery life and also help the environment by improving Mac energy efficiency and reducing the carbon footprint of our products! Key Qualifications

  • Understanding of computer architecture, operating system concepts, EE fundamentals, and concepts of power consumption and power management

  • Ability to dive deep technically, learn new technologies, and understand the small technical nuances of a system

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience presenting data to cross-functional teams and/or management

  • Experience in test planning, validation, uncovering issues, and driving issues to resolution with engineering teams

  • Coding and scripting experience to support basic automation and tool development (Python and shell preferred)

Description

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering outstanding battery life and power efficiency to our customers. This involves close collaboration in a cross-functional team of software developers, QA engineers, hardware engineers, and project managers. Responsibilities include: - Driving bug fixes and power optimizations to ensure that all new Mac products meet their battery life and power targets - Collecting, analyzing, and presenting power data on all in-development Mac platforms - Identifying, isolating, and root causing problem areas using debugging and data analysis skills - Designing tests to assess power impact of new HW/SW features - Continuously improving test coverage, methodology, and efficiency

Education & Experience

BSEE/CS or equivalent experience preferred

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $114,400.00 and $199,500.00 annualized, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
