Position Description

As a Technology Administrator, you have not just achieved mastery of your role, but are also a technology leader in your vertical. In this position, as the Network Administrator, Network Technologies you are the authoritative engineer and expert of all network technologies. This is a hands-on design, administration and support role focused on implementing enterprise-standard network designs and putting sustainment and lifecycle plans together while continuing to optimize a complex multi-domain environment while keeping abreast of emerging network technology trends.

What You Will Do

  • Design, install, automate and manage all network infrastructure devices including switches, routers, firewalls, IPS, NAC, WAN, LAN, wireless access points/controllers, DNS, SSL Certificates, cabling, etc.

  • Monitor network performance and availability by ensuring redundancy is built and maintained in the networking environment for maximum uptime.

  • Create and publish dashboards articulating network capacity, health and performance.

  • Design, build and manage a unified communications platform harmonizing all mediums of collaboration including conferencing, Teams, mobility, VOIP and direct dial

  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.

  • Ensure efficient alerting and monitoring mechanisms are set up to proactively intercept network incidents and outages.

  • Build and implement a network system lifecycle plan that also incorporates emerging technologies and standards.

  • Develop network roadmaps and align with overall infrastructure technology roadmaps.

  • Perform network modelling, analysis and planning. This includes network recovery in case of disaster or contingency.

  • Design, test, inspect data communications systems and implement network changes.

  • Develop test plans, implementation plans, and project timelines for various projects.

  • Provide support and troubleshooting to resolve network issues.

  • Act as an escalation point for first level analyst/technician inquiries

  • Document network architecture, policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Collaborate with other IT professionals and vendors to ensure optimal network functionality and compliance.

  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.

  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team.

  • Maintain relationships with OEM and supplier vendors for the various network hardware technologies in circulation across the TTI Canada infrastructure landscape

  • Research and evaluate new network technologies and solutions.

  • Organize and build of detailed technical and project implementation plans

  • Provide training and guidance to IT personnel.

  • Travel may be required

What You Will Bring

  • University or college degree or diploma in IT or related experience

  • Minimum 5 years hands-on technical experience as a Network Administrator or Engineer

  • Network/Security related certifications (CCIE, CCNA, Azure, JNCIA, JNCIP, JNCIE)

  • Mastery of Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, F5, Juniper technologies

  • Expertise in Azure Networking, including hub-spoke architecture, routing traffic between on-premises and different Azure regions

  • Strong knowledge of MPLS, Routing, Switching, SD-WAN, SASE, Cloud Computing, Voice over IP and wireless technologies

  • Working knowledge of Unified Communications and Collaboration platforms

  • Strong knowledge of Firewalls, Load Balancers, DNS, and Security (e.g. IPS, ISE, etc.) products

  • Certifications in Project Management an asset

  • A problem solver and a good troubleshooter

  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize tasks and duties efficiently

  • Accountability towards commitments and deadlines with focus on quality of outputs

  • Strong interpersonal skills required to effectively communicate with clients and vendors

  • Ability to explain technical items in non-technical, understandable terms

  • Strong communication skills (English written and verbal)

  • Experience with MS Project and/or MS Visio an asset

  • Familiarity with Jira and ServiceNow and asset

  • Unrestricted G driver’s license with a good driving record
