We are now recruiting for a Lead Estimator to join us permanently on our major project located near Reading.

Job Summary:

The Estimator is responsible for providing support and assistance in the maintenance of a comprehensive Estimating framework and service to 1 or more projects and/or a programme for the Amentum E&E (UK) business unit.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing the estimating framework, systems, and resources to deliver an effective estimating service to Project Managers, Programme managers and Senior Leaders.

  • Leading the provision of quality estimates for all project phases and stages.

  • Determining the quality of information provided for the compilation of estimates and the suitability and classification of estimates to be prepared.

  • Advising the project and programme teams on all aspects of estimating.

  • Monitoring and auditing the quality of estimates (and associated underpinning), including subcontractor submissions.

  • Overseeing the hierarchy of estimates within their area and assess the implications of implementing changes.

  • Supporting the PCM and SPCM in peer reviews process and checking of estimates approval.

  • Supporting the Commercial department in analysis of tenders and fair price checking and subsequent analysis of supply chain submissions prior to inclusion in estimates.

  • Supporting the analysis of project outturns against baseline for LFE and Knowledge management.

  • Providing the first line of support for Estimators and Assistant Estimators and facilitate and share best practice.

  • Mentoring and supporting Estimators, Assistant Estimators in their development.

  • Ensuring the accuracy of data communicated and reported to all Stakeholders.

  • Highlighting any current or potential issues to the PCM, SPCM and Project and Programme Managers.

  • Maintaining compliance with approved processes, procedures, and systems.

Minimum Requirements

Education/ Experience:

  • Essential: Relevant qualifications or demonstrated equivalent experience

  • Experience: 10+ years’ experience working in a project delivery environment ideally in the nuclear sector or a similar highly regulated sector.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred: Professional membership of a relevant chartered body.

  • Preferred: Trained in an appropriate Project management qualification

Currently hold SC or prepared to go through the SC process.
