The School of Architecture at Pratt Institute, an internationally recognized professional school offering B.Arch, M.Arch and M.S. degrees, invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in the Department of Undergraduate Architecture. We seek a full-time tenure track faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor who can assume a leadership role in the Department’s core curriculum (specifically Integrated Design), as a motivated design studio instructor with an interest in shaping architectural curriculum and pedagogy. The ideal candidate will have the ability to support our curriculum in advanced fabrication and emerging construction technologies as well as understand that the future of our built environment and construction techniques address the rapid effects of climate change on the future of architecture and cities. The appointment is scheduled to begin in August 2024.

About Undergraduate Architecture

Pratt Undergraduate Architecture is a professional degree-granting program which prioritizes innovative design and critical thinking together with professional knowledge and skills. With 170 full and part-time faculty members, the program serves a diverse domestic and international student body of approximately 730 students and awards an accredited five-year Bachelor of Architecture degree. Position Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have a range of experience in the discipline and is capable of engaging students in innovative design solutions, specifically as they apply to design, construction, fabrication and ecology relative to the contemporary practice and construction of architecture. Responsibilities include:

• Teach studios and required seminars in the core areas of the curriculum;

• Develop and coordinate courses with a focus on material practice, building fabrication technologies, emerging climate change needs toward sustainable architecture and site design.

• Lead and communicate specific curricular goals to faculty and students as an academic coordinator.

• Serve on departmental, school, and institute-wide committees.

• Participate in program accreditation.

• Advise and mentor students.

• Provide outreach efforts and participate in initiatives, including working closely with the Undergraduate Chair to promote interdisciplinary applications of core lessons into the design studio.

• Participate in scholarship/research/publications/conferences, etc. in the field.

• Perform all other related activities as required.
