WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Behavioral Health at Franciscan Health involves the whole person. We treat their psychiatric and emotional disorders with multi-disciplinary, compassionate, faith-based care. The Behavioral Health Tech is directly involved in the daily care of patients – from ensuring their safety to monitoring behavior and progress with treatment – this is a hands-on care role.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Monitor patient progress and communicate information regarding patient’s age appropriate behavior and progress to other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.

  • Supervise patients to ensure their safety and their involvement in treatment. Maintain a safe, orderly and therapeutic environment for patients of all ages. Provide input during shift report regarding patients progress to include behavior, sleep, mood, appetite, and ADLs.

  • Actively participate in the hospital CQI/PI process.

  • Carry out general nursing assistance appropriate to patient’s age as assigned by charge nurse/manager, communicate and document 1:1 interaction of day to day patient activities, communicate to other members of multidisciplinary team.

  • Provide input during shift report. Implement Program Secretary duties/order entry if designated and cross-trained.

  • Assist in the training and orientation of new psychiatric technicians.

WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED

  • Understand and adjust to changes in job conditions, assignments, priorities, and schedules.

  • Exercise self-control in potentially volatile situations such as being verbally or physically confronted in a threatening or aggressive manner.

  • Verbal expression is clear, positive, and appropriate. Write clear grammatical thoughts in a legible and understandable manner.

  • Communicate to the appropriate audience and alters communication style according to the audience. Seek clarification when necessary.

  • Take needed action without direct instructions.

  • Perform work with regard to quality standards and regulatory compliance. Communicate deviation from standards and regulations to appropriate personnel.

  • Maintain detailed documentation required.
