MKS Instruments Inc Facilities Supervisor in United States

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As a Facilities Supervisor at Photon Control Inc., a subsidiary of MKS Instruments, Inc. you play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our facilities. The Facilities Supervisor will play a critical role in ensuring that our buildings and grounds are well-maintained, safe, and functional. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving. In this role, you will report to the Facilities Manager.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Perform hands-on maintenance tasks and repairs as needed, including basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work, to address immediate needs and maintain operational efficiency.

  • Supervise and coordinate all maintenance activities, including repairs, routine inspections, and preventive maintenance schedules, to ensure facilities are well-maintained and compliant with safety regulations.

  • Assist in the development and monitoring of facility budgets, tracking expenditures, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and reporting variances to management as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, conducting regular inspections and collaborating with the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team. Research and implement updates in accordance with relevant regulations, taking proactive measures to mitigate risks and hazards.

  • Interface with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to schedule and oversee outsourced maintenance and repair work, ensuring quality service delivery and adherence to budgetary constraints.

  • Maintain accurate records of supplies, equipment, and inventory levels.

  • Develop and implement emergency response procedures, including evacuation plans, crisis management protocols, and coordination with emergency services, to ensure a timely and effective response to incidents.

  • Assist in space planning and utilization efforts, including coordinating office moves, furniture installations, and workspace modifications to accommodate organizational needs.

  • Generate regular reports on facility maintenance activities, performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs), providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Manage and oversee the implementation of physical security and access control at all assigned facilities.

  • Work closely with corporate security department to comply with corporate security rules and procedures.

  • Coordinate with Legal department to ensure agreements and permits adequately protect the company from risk and meet operational requirements.

  • Keep current with the latest facilities trends and technologies.

  • Offer proactive innovative solutions to exceed business expectations.

Skills You Bring:

  • 4+ years of proven facilities experience, preferably within a dynamic and growing organization.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation – to be confirmed by recruiter during screening.

  • Hands-on experience with maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.

  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices, including familiarity with relevant building codes.

  • Experience in budget tracking and cost management.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous supervisory experience is an asset.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in facility management, maintenance, or a related field is an asset.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset.

  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.

  • Must be able to exchange accurate information.

  • Operates in a professional office and/or laboratory/manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to observe documents and details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

Compensation:

Salary Pay Range: $56,100 - $104,100 per year. This range is a reasonable expectation of pay for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience, education, training, operational and business needs and other considerations.
