GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

We are currently seeking highly motived, organized, and professional applicants for an accountant position. This position will perform a variety of fiscal tasks including, but not limited to, analysis, calculation, WOLFS data entry relating to vendor payments, interagency transfers, purchasing card transactions, and travel vouchers, ensuring appropriate supporting documentation exists for all transactions. This position will also perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the Attorney General's Office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.
Serve as primary accountant for the Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
Monitors expenditures to meet Government Accounting Policies and Procedures (GAAP) requirements and perform annual year-end processes.
Works with the Fiscal Grants Manager to review and reconcile monthly grant expenditures to the grant budgets and notify program managers and/or fiscal staff of potential problems and recommend solutions.
Coordinate with program managers and fiscal staff to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Initiate and maintain financial balances of contracts and special projects.
Input/track requisitions through procurement.
Enter, review and process WOLFS transactions.
Track payments through WOLFS, and distribute payments to appropriate entities, including Task Force Officer (TFO) reimbursements to local law enforcement agencies.
Develop and implement spreadsheets for budget analysis, tracking and report preparation.
Exercise judgement in resolving fiscal problems identified through independent research and analysis.
Prepare deposits of funds collected, which include both cash and checks.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to candidates with WOLFS experience.
Preference may be given to candidates with one to three years of professional work experience in accounting, auditing, or budgeting.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of WOLFS accounting system concepts and application practices.
Knowledge of Advanced Excel spreadsheet functions.
Knowledge of computer program applications, data management and record keeping.
Knowledge of basic accounting and fundamental principles, concepts, practices, methods and techniques of government accounting, internal control and fiscal control structure, and GAAP accounting.
Knowledge of procurement rules and regulations and contracting.
Knowledge of interagency coordination and cooperation.
Knowledge of techniques of information dissemination.
Skill in obtaining and analyzing financial data to make decisions regarding funding, spending and revenue collection.
Skill in accounting and auditing.
Skill in interpretation of GAAP and evaluation and observation of internal fiscal control.
Skill in monitoring and evaluating programs.
Skill in coordinating and planning.
Ability to work with others to achieve common goals.
Ability to solve problems, work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to prioritize work activities.
Ability to enter data quickly and accurately.
Ability to use considerable discretion.
Ability to express thoughts clearly in written and verbal communication.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Finance)
Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accountant
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accountant

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, driving an automobile, etc.
