Job Description

The HRIS Specialist performs routine professional level work in completing various Human Resources related activities and tasks. Researches, analyzes, designs, troubleshoots and maintains systems and processes in support of Human Resources department and departmental projects. Continually monitors Human Resources systems information needs.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provides Tier 2 technical support to the external NASA community and internal NSSC employees.

  • Troubleshooting and understanding of directories, file structures, and systems.

  • Supports review, testing and implementation of system upgrades or patches.

  • Assists HRIS and IT in identifying, assessing, completing, and deploying approved system changes/enhancements to ensure systems remain current with technology advances.

  • Assists in resolution of system issues between system users, NASA and HRIS system service providers.

  • Documents internal processes and audit procedures to ensure data integrity of systems.

  • Responds to customer inquiries in conjunction with HRIS applications.

  • Provides technical advice for the implementation, maintenance, enhancement, and coordination of online systems and Web sites on the Internet. Coordinates and participates in the planning, design, development, testing, and implementation of organizational Web sites.

  • Supports internal and external Web sites to optimize communication with relevant clientele. Assists in mapping overall Web design and structure. Ensures Web site functionality, integrity, and security. Ensures site compliance with provisions of the Americans with Disability Act.

  • Provides support for administrative account management in accordance with approved NAMS Requests and establishes and modifies admin-level access and roles.

  • Assists in the development of customized reports in response to internal and external customer ad-hoc report requests.

  • Identifies opportunities for improving the effectiveness of processes, systems, and reports.

  • Supports the development of automated tools and future system enhancements through periodic releases to meet operational requirements.

  • Provides recommendations for future enhancements to HRIS systems.

  • Maintain system-wide configuration settings and variables per Agency standards and guidance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Database administrator or in similar position.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with SQL coding concepts and language.

  • Ability to write, edit, and execute database queries

  • Technical skills including troubleshooting and understanding of directory, file structures, and HRIS systems.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with others at all levels of the organization as well as vendors.

  • Strong customer service skills and responsive attitude.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical customers.
