GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position will have oversight of the resident care on the North and/or South units, develop and coordinate individual bowel and bladder plans, coordinate with other nursing managers to provide education and provide supervision of licensed/certified staff. This position will also perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Prepare for and assist with the rounding of onsite healthcare providers

  • Follow up on resident concerns as delegated by the Director of Nursing

  • Assist with paperwork for admits, re-admits, transfers, and discharges

  • Will develop and implement individual bowel and bladder plans

  • Serves as a part of the on-call rotation and will assist with coverage of shifts, as needed

  • Monitors direct and counsels nursing staff for the quality of care

  • Review applications and interview potential applicants

  • Conducts performance management/audits on staff to ensure quality care

  • Provides leadership and supervision of nursing staff

  • Supervises staff performance of duties by assigning responsibilities and directives for the care of residents

  • Will act as backup MDS coordinator, as needed

  • Will provide oversight of the Restorative Department, as needed

  • Will perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference will be given to applicants who have a minimum of 1 year of experience in long-term care and/or 1 year of supervisory experience.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of principles of nursing and management processes.

  • Knowledge of the medical diagnosis and treatment of patient care using nursing diagnosis.

  • Knowledge of organization, planning, and team building.

  • Knowledge of human service management to include supervisory techniques, methods, and standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree (typically in Nursing)

Experience:

1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Must be able to:

  • Lift/transfer patients to different positions.

  • Lift medical/patient equipment of varying sizes and weights up to about 50 lbs.

  • Work evenings, nights, and /or weekends when the situation requires it.

NOTES:

  • FLSA: Non-Exempt.

  • The position is full-time.

  • For the health and protection of the persons in our care, annual influenza vaccination and testing for tuberculosis are required.

  • Employees of this facility will be expected to follow all rules and requirements established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services regarding COVID-19.

  • A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.

  • Pre-employment drug testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions (direct patient care positions are considered safety-sensitive). Drug and alcohol testing will be conducted on any position if reasonable suspicion exists.

  • Internal candidates will be required to remain in the position for a minimum of (1) year from the promotion date.

  • Employees will only be eligible for (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.
