Pratt Institute’s Department of Digital Arts (DDA) seeks qualified candidates for the position of Operations Manager. The successful candidate will manage a range of specialist facilities within the department, including:

  • Resource Center (cameras, mics, tablets, lighting, midi and other check-out gear)

  • Audio Facilities (foley, computer station recording hardware)

  • Green Screen Studio (digital video camera/lighting/mocap)

  • Spatial Computing Lab (VR/MR)

  • Maker Spaces (soldering, multimeter/o-scope, 3D printing)

The Department has a 35-year history in the artistic application of innovative technologies. Following its dual fine arts/commercial mission, the department has a tradition of graduating industry leaders with award-winning track records. The Department of Digital Arts is consistently ranked as one of the top 10 animation schools in the country.

DDA offers BFA and MFA degrees in 2D Animation, 3D Animation, Art & Technology, and Game Arts. Our facilities are located on 3 purpose-built floors with over 300 computers in 15 digital classrooms, a well-equipped resource center, a greenscreen room, an audio recording studio, experimental animation studio, a spatial computing lab, an arcade, 3D printing and laser cutting facilities. The DDA community includes over 400 students, 10 full-time faculty, 60 part-time faculty, and a support staff of 6 (including this position).

Position Duties:

  • Manage the Resource Center including: inventory, circulation, organization, equipment repairs upgrades, student workers (hiring, scheduling, delegations).

  • Manage green screen studio, spatial computing lab, audio facilities, maintenance and use.

  • Plan and develop technical resources through discussion with faculty, including budgeting and researching/purchasing new equipment and/or space upgrades.

  • Coordinate and meet with DDA staff and wider Pratt IT with the purpose of building strategy, support, and resiliency through cross-training.

  • Structuring work through project management platforms (like Asana) – and use this system as a means of reporting and goal tracking.

  • Developing and implementing policies for space and equipment use.

  • Assist students and faculty (with or through the delegation of student workers) on projects related to technical facilities and resources.

  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
