Welder Assembler I

This is a skilled labor position. The person must be able to interpret drawings, plan working details required to assemble and weld any material commercially weldable in the manufacturing processes at the Wellsville location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Using various types of gas and electrical welding units, burning and cutting equipment, welding fixtures, positioning equipment, tapes, square, protractor, shields, safety equipment and other related tools and equipment, perform such tasks as:

Assemble a given part from drawings and weld any commercially weldable material meeting the standard of quality required. Clean and prepare surfaces to be welded. Exercise safety precautions and handle material to and from work area. Grind and finish welded joints as required. Assist in training and may direct the work of a less-experienced Welder Assembler. Follows all safety practices and procedures and keeps work area neat and orderly. All required OSHA protection equipment must be worn as required. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area, equipment operation, etc., plus 2 years related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
