NJ Employer Sewing Machine Operator/Fabric Mender in Woodbine, New Jersey

Candidate will need to measure, cut and sew fabric. Must understand how to read drawings and work orders in order to sew fabric into a completed shade product. In some cases, also be able to create a pattern. High school diploma or GED certificate preferred but not required. One year of experience preferred but willing to train the right person. Tasks include operate industrial sewing machines to sew primarily awnings, canopies and curtains. Monitor equipment to detect problems such as defective stitching, breaks in thread or machine malfunctions. Work with thread, cord, spindles, bobbins and machine components. Operate equipment guiding fabric, restitch defective seams; holes and examine for defects. Stamp grommets into canvas, using mallets and punches or eyelet machines. Requires attention to detail, dependability, integrity, cooperation and self-control, repetitive motions, time sitting and time constraints. Requires arm-hand steadiness, manual dexterity, near vision, finger dexterity. Requires handling and moving objects, inspecting equipment, structures or material. Controlling machines and processes, getting information, identifying objects, actions and events.
